Introducing Hilo 2: The Next Generation AD/DA Converter & Interface by Lynx Studio Technology

  • by

This is your current location. Lynx has just announced the release of the Hilo 2 A-D/D-A Converter and Interface.

Lynx Studio Technology has recently revealed that they will be releasing Hilo 2, a new audio converter/interface with independently-coupled 2-in/6-out AD/DA capabilities. Lynx is confident that Hilo 2 will surpass its predecessor, the original Hilo, which was reviewed in SOS magazine back in July 2012, by offering several enhancements.

According to Bob Bauman, who is the Co-owner and Chief Hardware Engineer of Lynx, the release of the original Hilo in 2012 had a significant influence on various areas within the professional audio industry such as mixing, mastering, location sound, and others.

Significant enhancements have been made to the device, resulting in improved clarity and visibility in the line inputs and outputs by reducing distortion and noise. The sample clock now incorporates SynchroLock 2 technology, enabling faster synchronization and accurate tracking of external clocks with an absolute accuracy of 7ppm. The Hilo 2 also features an upgraded LCD display with a capacitive touch panel, offering better brightness, uniform viewing from different angles, and improved touch sensitivity according to Lynx.

According to David Hoatson, who is the co-owner and chief software engineer, Hilo 2 has made significant advancements in terms of audio performance and functionality compared to the original Hilo. This means that the audio engineers, recordists, and music producers in the community will now be able to enjoy the ultimate world-class audio conversion like never before.

Hilo 2 offers users the ability to upgrade to higher sample rates above 192kHz and DSD on both input and output. Additionally, it provides selectable linear and minimum phase filters on its line I/O.

The Hilo 2 is expected to be available for purchase at Lynx retailers in the second quarter of 2024. However, specific information regarding its pricing has not been disclosed yet.

Lynx Studio Technology will be showcasing their products at NAMM 2024 and can be located at booth number 15504.
