The collaboration between Lainey Wilson and the Black Crowes happened in a very natural way. Chris Robinson, the lead singer of the band, happened to meet Lainey by coincidence and discovered that she was a fan of their music.

During an interview with Loudwire Nights, Robinson reveals that he came across Wilson on the red carpet at a country awards ceremony. Additionally, the Black Crowes teamed up with Darius Rucker to perform "She Talks to Angels" at the 2023 CMT Music Awards.
Robinson remembers her as a very kind and affectionate person who expressed her fondness for the Black Crowes by saying, "I can't believe it, I've been a fan of theirs since I was a child."
During a brief break between interviews, the producer, Jay Joyce, approached her and made a request. Without hesitation, she readily fulfilled his request.
Joyce was also responsible for producing Wilson's previous two albums. "Wilted Rose" is significant because it is the first instance where the Black Crowes collaborated with a different vocalist on an album.

Wilson's collaboration with another artist adds to her already well-established status as one of the most versatile female artists in country music. Over the past three years, she has collaborated with a variety of musicians including Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, Cole Swindell, Chase Rice, Hardy, Lauren Alaina, and Darren Criss. Additionally, she recorded a rendition of the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want" for the Stone Cold Country tribute album dedicated to the Stones. Furthermore, Wilson showcased her acting skills in the Western drama series, Yellowstone.
During an interview, Robinson mentioned that he was in Los Angeles when he first heard the song. It was after the main part of the record, and he and the others were amazed by it. They acknowledged the immense talent of the artist and recognized that she was currently experiencing a superstar moment. They expressed their happiness for her success and believed that she would continue to achieve great things, as she was already doing so.
It is believed that Wilson is currently working on her upcoming studio album, however, no information or songs from these sessions have been made public. Her latest single is called "Wildflowers and Wild Horses" and it is featured on the album "Bell Bottom Country."
