Morgan Wallen Criticizes Record Release and Releases New Version of ‘Spin You Around

Morgan Wallen expresses his displeasure with the release of his new song "Spin You Around" and unexpectedly drops a new version of it. It seems that Wallen had no intention of re-recording or re-releasing the song in the first place.

The writer explains that when they were starting out and learning how to write, some of their songs turned out alright, but most of them were terrible. They clarify that they were not the sole creator of these songs, as there were other collaborators involved, and many of the songs did not meet their personal standards or align with their ideas.

Morgan Wallen's EP called "Stand Alone" has garnered almost 400 million streams on Spotify. One of the tracks from the EP, titled "Spin You Alone," has been streamed 240 million times. The EP also includes songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, have collaborated with Wallen to co-write all 13 songs on this album. Although these songs may not possess the same level of intensity as his later works, fans will still be able to identify the catchy rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down" and the soothing melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

During 2014, Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice. Therefore, the songwriting session that resulted in these songs probably took place shortly after that, around 18-24 months before he officially joined Big Loud Records. Wallen admits to recording for Panacea and also signing a contract for artist management.

"2 of Us Alone" serves as an instance of a song that one may come to regret. The lackluster musical arrangement accompanies a vocalist who is hardly identifiable in the year 2024.

Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on "Afterglow," a track that seems to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In contrast, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" cater to a more mainstream rock audience. If producer Trust chooses to promote these songs, it is unlikely that he will find new opportunities in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants to make it clear to his fans that the recently released album is not his next big project. However, he assures them that he will be heading back to the studio in February to record new music.

Joey Moi took charge of the production for this fresh acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," which Wallen gave his approval to. Wallen mentions that he recorded it in Nashville this week, and he also took the responsibility of designing the cover art for the song.

In a generous act of giving back, he has chosen to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to support aspiring musicians who may encounter comparable challenges along their journey.
