Morgan Wallen Opens Up About Regrettable Record Release and Drops New Version of ‘Spin You Around

  • by

Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with the release of his record and surprises fans with a new version of his song "Spin You Around." It seems that Wallen had no intention of re-recording and re-releasing the track, and it appears that he wasn't enthusiastic about it either.

On Friday, the artist released a heartfelt love song in acoustic version, expressing how a choice made a decade ago ultimately influenced his current situation.

Besides criticizing the timing of this release, Wallen also expressed negative comments about the music.

In connection to the topic: Morgan Wallen compiles a roster of the 40 songs that have been played the most in the past five decades.

The writer admits that while some of the songs were decent, the majority of them were awful because they were still in the process of learning how to write in general and understanding the whole concept. They also clarify that they were not the sole creator of these songs, so many of them were not their own ideas and did not meet their personal standards.

Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP has garnered almost 400 million streams on Spotify, with the previous version of "Spin You Alone" alone reaching 240 million streams. The EP also features tracks like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock feel, it still incorporates Wallen's signature hip-hop influence.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, have collaborated with Wallen as co-writers for all 13 of these songs. Although the songs may not have the same level of intensity as his later recordings, fans will still be able to identify the catchy rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down" and the smooth, relaxed melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

Wallen participated in the sixth season of The Voice in 2014. Therefore, the songwriting session that resulted in these songs most likely took place shortly after that, around 18 to 24 months before he eventually signed with Big Loud Records. He does not deny that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the assistance of a lawyer, as Wallen clarifies.

"2 of Us Alone" is an instance of a regrettable song. It has a weak arrangement and the vocals are hardly recognizable in 2024.

Wallen is supported by piano and acoustic guitar in the song "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In contrast, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" cater more towards a commercial rock audience. However, if producer Trust were to prioritize these songs, it is unlikely that he would receive new opportunities in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants his fans to understand that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures them that he will be returning to the studio in February to record new music.

He expresses discomfort or embarrassment when he listens to these songs.

The production of the new acoustic version of "Spin You Around" was led by Joey Moi, and Wallen confirms that he recorded it in Nashville this week. He also took responsibility for designing the cover art of the song.

In an act of kindness, he has chosen to give away $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to assist aspiring musicians who may face similar challenges.
