Morgan Wallen Slams Record Release, Drops New Version of ‘Spin You Around’

  • by

Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with the release of his new record and unexpectedly drops a revamped version of his song "Spin You Around." It appears that Wallen had no intentions of re-recording or re-releasing the track and seemed reluctant about it.

On Friday, the musician delighted his fans by sharing a heartfelt acoustic love song. He further revealed that the reason behind this song was a difficult decision he had to make a decade ago.

Along with criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also spoke negatively about the music.

In connection: Morgan Wallen compiles a list of the 40 songs that have been played the most in the past half-century.

According to the author, a few of the songs were decent, but the majority of them were dreadful because he was still in the early stages of learning how to write and was trying to understand the process. He clarifies that he was not the sole contributor to these songs, so many of them were not his own concepts and did not meet his personal standards.

Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP has gained almost 400 million streams on Spotify, with the previous version of "Spin You Alone" reaching 240 million streams. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of Atom Smash, have collaborated with Wallen to co-write all 13 songs on this album. Although the music may not be as impactful as his later works, fans will still be able to identify the familiar rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down," as well as the gentle and relaxed melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

During Season 6 of The Voice in 2014, Wallen participated in the competition. Therefore, the songwriting session that resulted in these songs most likely took place shortly after that, around 18-24 months before he eventually signed with Big Loud Records. Wallen does not dispute the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the assistance or guidance of a lawyer, as stated by Wallen.

The song "2 of Us Alone" serves as a prime example of a regrettable musical piece. It is accompanied by a lackluster arrangement and the vocalist's talent has significantly declined by 2024.

Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In contrast, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" cater to a more mainstream rock audience. If producer Trust were to release this collection of songs as his debut in Nashville, it is unlikely that he would receive many new opportunities in the industry.

Morgan Wallen wants his fans to understand that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. He assures them that he will be heading back to the studio in February to record new music.

He expresses discomfort and embarrassment when he listens to these songs.

Joey Moi took charge of the production for this latest acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," which was given the green light. Wallen reveals that he recorded it in Nashville just this week, and he was also responsible for creating the song's cover art.

In order to give back, he has made the choice to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to support young musicians who may encounter similar challenges.
