Get NUSofting’s Eugene Filter Plugin for Free: A Unique and Resonant Audio Effect

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. Additionally, NUSofting has recently released a free version of their Eugene Filter VST Plugin, which is now available for download on both Windows and Mac operating systems. The original Eugene Filter plugin is priced at €10.

The software developer provides the plugin in VST2 and VST3 formats for Windows operating systems (specifically 64-bit) and offers VST3 and AU formats for Mac systems.

Eugene Filter is a unique audio effect plug-in that features a brand new kind of low-pass filter. This filter is technically referred to as a cascaded integrator-comb ladder, setting it apart from other filters available.

The filter exhibits properties of self-oscillation, which are comparable to the voltage-controlled filters found in virtual analog synthesizers. However, this particular filter offers a broader range of resonances.

The unpaid version functions similarly to the Eugene Filter, but some features are not available in the free version.

The YouTube channel of NUSofting presents a video that highlights the Eugene Filter and its free version, illustrating the distinctions between the two versions.

According to the developer, the cascaded integrator-comb ladder filter created by NUSofting has a distinct quality. It is described as being light and resonant, similar to the sound of a vocal voice.

Music producers have the ability to utilize a plugin that allows them to input any desired sound and combine it with the noise produced by the plugin, which can be controlled in terms of its volume. By incorporating a touch of chorus, also within the plugin, producers can create unique and fresh sounds from any audio source.

In addition, the cascaded integrator-comb filter has the option to be substituted (using a switch) with a traditional analog low-pass filter emulation that has a 24dB/octave ladder, providing two low-pass choices.

The Eugene Filter Free version includes two filters that emphasize low frequencies, a device that generates noise, a chorus effect that creates a spacious stereo sound, the ability to operate in stereo mode, and various gain controls for adjusting the input, output, and the wet and dry signals.

NUSofting, a small independent company, has simplified the process of downloading Eugene Filter Free. By choosing the desired format, you can easily obtain the Zip file with just one click.

The paid version offers additional features that are not available in the free version. These features include an Envelope Follower, a Random Walk LFO with adjustable Rate and Depth, and a preset selector that allows you to select from a total of four presets.

The Envelope Follower keeps a record of the input level, while the Random Walk LFO alters the frequency of the filter, creating a range of effects from slow and smooth changes to fast and chaotic variations.

The complete edition of the software also includes the ability to adjust the size of the interface, although this feature is not mentioned in the list of features for the free edition

The complete edition offers a wider variety of file formats, as the premium version for Mac supports AU, VST2, and VST3 compatibility.

Both the Mac and Windows versions of the plugins have the same Windows version. Both VST2 and VST3 are compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems, specifically in 64-bit.

When I first downloaded Nusofting's other free plugins, I didn't pay much attention to this one because I already have many filters. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its sound quality. The graphical user interface may not be visually appealing, but I still think it's worth downloading in my opinion.

Who said there is no pleasure in Eugene?

Hey everyone, you should definitely check out the Sinnah unconventional synthesizer. I've been familiar with it since 2018, and it's incredibly awesome!
