For a limited time, you can purchase Future Audio Workshop's SubLab for only $10. Additionally, NUSofting has recently released a free VST plugin called Eugene Filter, which is a simplified version of their paid Eugene Filter plugin. This free version can be downloaded for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

The developer provides the plugin in VST2 and VST3 formats for Windows (64-bit) and VST3 and AU formats for Mac.

Eugene Filter is a kind of audio effect plug-in that introduces a unique and innovative low-pass filter. This filter is known as a cascaded integrator-comb ladder and offers a distinctive approach in terms of its technical design.

The filter possesses self-oscillation properties that resemble those of voltage-controlled filters commonly found in virtual analog synthesizers. However, it offers a broader range of resonances.

The unpaid version functions in a similar manner to the Eugene Filter, but it does not include all of the features available in the unpaid version.

The YouTube channel of NUSofting presents a video that exhibits the Eugene Filter and its free version, highlighting the distinctions between the two releases.

According to the developer, the cascaded integrator-comb ladder filter created by NUSofting has a distinct quality. It is described as being light and resonant, similar to the sound of a human voice.

Musicians and sound creators have the option to input any sound they desire into the plugin. Additionally, they can incorporate the noise produced by the plugin itself, which can be controlled based on its amplitude. By adding a touch of chorus, which is also available within the plugin, it becomes possible to generate fresh and unique sounds from any given source.

In addition, the cascaded integrator-comb filter has the option to be substituted with a traditional analog low-pass filter emulation that has a 24dB/octave slope. This substitution allows for two different low-pass filter choices.

The Eugene Filter Free version includes two filters that emphasize low frequencies, a noise generator, a chorus effect that creates a sense of spaciousness, the ability to operate in stereo, and controls to adjust the volume of the input, output, wet (processed) signal, and dry (unprocessed

NUSofting, a lone individual running the operation, has simplified the process of downloading Eugene Filter Free. You can effortlessly obtain the Zip file by simply clicking once and choosing the desired format.

The paid version of the software includes special features that are not available in the free version. These features include an Envelope Follower, a Random Walk LFO with adjustable Rate and Depth, and a preset selector that allows you to select from a total of four presets.

The Envelope Follower keeps a record of the incoming signal's level, while the Random Walk LFO adjusts the frequency of the filter. This adjustment can range from slow and gradual sweeps to quick and turbulent changes.

The complete edition of the software also offers a feature that allows users to adjust the size of the interface. This particular feature is not mentioned in the list of features for

The complete edition offers a wider selection of formats, as the paid version for Mac is able to work with AU, VST2, and VST3.

The plugins are compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems, offering VST2 and VST3 versions that are 64-bit.

At first, I ignored this plugin while getting Nusofting's other free plugins because I already have enough filters. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually sounds. The graphical user interface may not be visually appealing, but I believe it is still worth downloading.
