For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.
The Glitch Pad public beta is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
Typically, when NUSofting releases a new plugin, they make it available for both Windows and Mac users. Therefore, Mac users can expect to be able to use the plugin when the 1.0 version is released.
The origins of the plugin can be traced back to the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch, which was released in 2002 and has been around for several decades.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently reimagined the initial algorithm and developed a more advanced oscillator, leading to the creation of a fresh VST synthesizer.
The latest edition is developed in C++ from the ground up and can be accessed in its early beta stage through the developer's website, as provided in the link below.
The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click operation. Users do not need to log in or provide any personal information to obtain the Zip file.
A video on YouTube has been uploaded, featuring an informal demonstration of the Glitch Pad. The video highlights its unique and nostalgic sound.
The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The suggested styles are subtly suggested in the names of the presets, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.
At first glance, the interface of Glitch Pad appears to be overwhelming with numerous elements to absorb.
In terms of how it looks and is organized, there is potential for improvement, but since it is a free beta version, you can only have certain expectations.
Towards the lower part of the interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Positioned above these elements, there is a visual depiction of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users will have a period of two months to take part in the beta testing. The beta version will no longer be available after March 2024.
It remains uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released as freeware once the beta phase is completed. NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions, so the outcome is uncertain.
NUSofting is currently offering discounts on a few of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of these synths, it might be worth exploring their other available products.
It is currently unclear if the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period comes to an end.

"Make sure to indicate in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you have already done that. Thank you, but unfortunately, it is too late. Complaints from Apple users in the comment section have become a well-known joke within the BPB community.

There is a similar level of snobbery among Windows users. Even though I don't use a Mac, it's clear that the people who claim to be indifferent towards the topic of operating systems are mostly Windows users. They are just as prevalent in the comments.

This thing is quite amusing. It has some good concepts, such as the functioning of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if it had a separate low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination and more shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance randomization. Since it's still in beta, it's possible that these improvements are already being addressed. However, if they're not, it would be great to consider them. 🙂

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce exceptional sounds! Luigi, the developer behind Nusofting, has consistently been undervalued. His work is truly impressive!

That's great! But I have a small complaint. I really miss using rewire. I believe that if rewire was still available, these "intro DAWs" would be even more valuable because they could seamlessly work alongside the DAWs we already use. It's astonishing to me that as technology advances, we haven't found a proper replacement for something as useful as rewire. Sure, there is ableton link or a blutcat plugin, but rewire allowed us to easily send and receive MIDI and audio directly from the DAW without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
