Take advantage of a 95% discount on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. The Crow Hill Company is offering a complimentary guitar sample library called Shimmer Guitar. This is the latest addition to the FREE Vaults series released by The Crow Hill Company.
Christian Henson is the founder of The Crow Hill Company. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company has launched Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument in the FREE Vaults series.
Currently, the Vault offers a total of four instruments that are available for free. These instruments include Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.
All of these instruments, as well as previous releases by Spitfire Audio, share a common feature, which is their unique personality or character.
The uniqueness of the character in the instrument usually stems from it being a distinct model, having a specific level of aging, being recorded in a specific location, or a combination of these factors.
The shimmer guitar is created by bringing together an older, well-preserved musical instrument, a classic amplifier, and utilizing the renowned recording studios used for orchestral performances worldwide.
The guitar used in the recording was a Gibson Les Paul with a hollow body, although it was not initially intended. The original intention was to buy a vintage second-hand guitar on the day of the recording, but it ended up being a Kay electric guitar with a semi-hollow body.
Even though it had a promising sound, some technical problems arose with the Kay guitar, and as a result, it had to be replaced with the Les Paul guitar, which was a suitable and just
The recording session happened at AIR Studios in London, specifically in Lyndhurst Hall. In order to capture the essence and unique qualities of the sound, the Les Paul guitar was paired with a classic Supro tube amplifier.
The Supro amplifier did not have any additional sound effects, however, three Marshall speaker cabinets were placed on the upper level of the venue, equipped with delay effects, to create the desired atmosphere.
Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar includes six macros. These macros consist of two larger central controls and four smaller controls located below them.
The main controls of this device are Filter, which is a low-pass filter, and Shimmer. Additionally, there are other controls such as Drive, which provides a British-style distortion effect, Mod for a flanger effect, Echo for creating echoes, and Splosh. If desired, you can reverse the order of Echo and Splosh to have reverb before the delay effect.
Shimmer can be described as the enchanting element that connects all aspects, and when you achieve a balanced combination of soil, environment, atmosphere, and distinctness, the result is truly captivating.
I am enjoying the musical instruments available in the Vault. I anticipate that there will be even more unique and delightful additions in the future, similar to the LABS collection from Spitfire Audio.
If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I recommend beginning with Attic Piano and progressing towards Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful little free offerings that you shouldn't miss out on!
Take a look at this special offer: The Shimmer Guitar is being offered for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company as part of the Vaults plugins package.

Has LABS come to an end?
Bob
In response to the current question, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.
It has been 7 months since the previous release of LABS, which used to be a monthly occurrence. Christian was in charge of LABS, but now that he is no longer present, it seems that the project has lost momentum.
Soroosh
I don't believe there will be any new releases of LABS unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and functionality to LABS, and it seems like there will be plenty of new patches available for it.

Oh no! My devious scheme to incite a rebellion via the comment section of a website has been foiled yet again. You have outsmarted me, sir. Well done… *a distant sound of thunder*

I'm curious as to why my comment about Christian being a transphobe was removed. I didn't say anything offensive, I simply wanted to provide information to others about who they decide to support.
Sorry, but
True musicians prioritize quality over the origin of their plugins and instruments. They are preoccupied with their professional responsibilities and financial obligations. They do not have the luxury of concerning themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Just a reminder, any comments regarding politics, including gender politics, or any other topics unrelated to music production will be removed. These types of discussions tend to become heated and I do not want that on BPB. There are plenty of other places where these topics can be discussed. My goal for BPB is to create a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, engage in music-related discussions with fellow music enthusiasts, and find some respite from the negativity that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
