Experience the Retro Sounds of NUSofting’s Glitch Pad Synth – Free Beta for Windows Users

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for just $10. NUSofting has recently released a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.

The beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible to the public in both VST2 and VST3 formats, specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.

NUSofting usually makes their plugins available for both Windows and Mac users when they release them in their entirety. Therefore, Mac users can expect to have access to the plugins when version 1.0 is released.

The history of the plugin can be traced back to the year 2002 when the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch was first introduced.

The founder of NUSofting, Luigi, has recently redeveloped the initial algorithm and created an enhanced oscillator, leading to the development of a brand-new VST synthesizer.

The latest edition of the software has been developed using C++ programming language and is currently in its early beta stage. You can access the beta version of the software through the developer's website, which is provided as a link below.

The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click action, without the need for any login or personal information to obtain the Zip file.

A video on YouTube has been uploaded, featuring an informal demonstration of the Glitch Pad. The video highlights its unique and nostalgic sound.

The synthesizer would be perfectly suitable for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.

The names of these presets give us a clue about the different styles they represent. Some examples of these styles include echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.

At first glance, the interface of Glitch Pad appears to be overwhelming with a lot of information to absorb.

In terms of its appearance and arrangement, there is definitely some potential for improvement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, it is important to keep realistic expectations.

Towards the lower part of the screen, you will see a keyboard and a tool to choose from pre-existing options. Just above that, there is a graphical representation of the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to participate in the beta for a period of two months until the expiration date in March 2024.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or be released as free software after the beta testing phase, as NUSofting has previously offered both paid and free versions.

NUSofting is offering discounted prices on some of their synthesizers at the moment. If you enjoy the sound of these, it would be worth exploring their other available products.

It is uncertain whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta phase is over.

"You should mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… Oh, you've already done that. Thank you, but it's too late now. The complaints from Apple users in the comment section have become a recurring joke at BPB.

Similar to the concept of being snobbish about using Windows, there is a tendency for some individuals to act superior when it comes to the topic of operating systems. However, it is worth noting that these people who claim to be above such discussions are usually users of Windows themselves, and their presence is equally noticeable in the comments.

This thing is quite amusing. It has some interesting concepts, such as the way the pitch envelope functions. It would greatly improve if it had a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each of the destinations, and maybe more shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance the randomization. Since it's still in beta, it's possible that these improvements are already being worked on. However, if that's not the case, it would be great to see them implemented. 😀

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer at Nusofting, has never received enough recognition for his work. It's really impressive!

That's great! However, I have a complaint to make. I really miss using rewire! I believe that if rewire was still available, all these "intro DAWs" would be much more helpful, as they could easily work alongside our existing setups. It's unbelievable that as technology advances, such a useful tool has been discontinued and not adequately replaced yet. Sure, there are options like Ableton Link or a blutcat plugin, but rewire allowed for seamless transmission and reception of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW, without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
