Explore the New Glitch Pad Synth: NUSofting Releases Free Beta for Windows

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab from Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth plugin for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.

The Glitch Pad public beta can currently be accessed in both VST2 and VST3 formats for Windows operating systems that are 64-bit.

When NUSofting releases their plugins, they usually make them available for both Windows and Mac users. Therefore, Mac users will most likely be able to access and use the plugins when version 1.0 is released.

The roots of the plugin can be traced back many years to the launch of the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch in 2002.

Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently revamped the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, culminating in the creation of a brand-new VST synthesizer.

The latest edition of the software is developed using C++ programming language and can be accessed in its initial beta stage through the developer's website, provided in the link below.

The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 preconfigured settings.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a simple one-click process. Users do not need to provide any personal information or create a login to access the Zip file.

A video on YouTube has been uploaded, which serves as an unofficial demonstration of the Glitch Pad. In the video, the Glitch Pad produces a unique sound that is reminiscent of the

The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.

Hints of these styles can be found in the names of the presets, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.

At first glance, the interface for Glitch Pad appears to be overwhelming with a lot of information to absorb.

In terms of appearance and design, there is still some potential for improvement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, it is understandable to have certain limitations.

Near the lower part of the user interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Above these elements, there is a graphical depiction of the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users will have a two-month period to take part in the beta testing. The beta testing will come to an end in March 2024.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released as a free software after the beta testing phase. This uncertainty arises because NUSofting has previously introduced both paid and free versions of their products.

At the moment, NUSofting has discounted some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of these synths, it would be worth exploring their other available releases.

It is not known if the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"Please indicate in the title that this plugin is exclusively compatible with Windows"… oh, you have already done so. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, it is too late. The complaints from Apple users in the comment section have now become a well-known joke within the BPB community.

There is a certain level of snobbishness associated with using Windows operating system. Although I personally do not use Mac, it is clear that the majority of people who claim to be indifferent towards the topic of operating systems are actually Windows users. This attitude is equally prevalent in the comments section.

This is an interesting and amusing device. It has some good ideas, such as the way the pitch envelope functions. It would greatly improve if it had a low frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination, and maybe more shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance the randomization. It's possible that these suggestions are already being considered since it's in the beta phase, but just in case they aren't, it would be great to see these additions implemented.

That's great! However, I want to express my frustration about the absence of Rewire. I believe that if Rewire was still available, it would enhance the usefulness of these "intro DAWs" by seamlessly integrating with our existing tools. It's astonishing to me that such a useful feature has disappeared and hasn't been adequately replaced yet, despite technological advancements. While there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, Rewire allowed for the direct exchange of MIDI and audio between DAWs without any problems or delays, while keeping everything in sync.
