Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle which includes various electronic music instruments and plugins. The Crow Hill Company, known for their high-quality sample libraries, has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library that is part of their FREE Vaults series.

Christian Henson is the creator of The Crow Hill Company. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, The Crow Hill Company has introduced Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument in their FREE Vaults series.

Currently, the Vault contains a total of four instruments that are available for free. These instruments include Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.

All of these instruments, along with previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common trait, which is their unique personality or character.

The uniqueness of the character often stems from the instrument being a distinct model, having a specific age, being recorded in a particular location, or a combination of these factors.

Shimmer guitar is created by using an older, well-preserved musical instrument, a classic amplifier, and a renowned recording studio known for its orchestral productions.

The guitar used for the recording was a Gibson Les Paul with a hollow body, although this was not initially intended. The original plan was to buy a vintage guitar second-hand on the same day, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was chosen.

Despite its initial appeal, the Kay had to be replaced with the Les Paul due to various technical problems. The Les Paul was chosen as a suitable alternative, and it was considered a fair replacement.

The recording happened at AIR Studios in London, specifically in Lyndhurst Hall. In order to capture the true essence of the sound, they used a vintage Supro tube amp in conjunction with the Les Paul.

The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, three Marshall stacks equipped with delay effects were strategically placed on the upper level of the hall in order to create the desired atmosphere.

Similar to the instruments in other Vaults, the Shimmer Guitar is equipped with six macros. These macros consist of two larger central controls and four smaller ones located below them.

The primary controls of this device are Filter, which is a low-pass filter, and Shimmer. Additionally, there are Drive, Mod, Echo, and Splosh controls. Drive adds a British-style dirt effect, Mod creates a flanger effect, Echo controls the echo effect, and Splosh controls the Splosh effect. It is also possible to reverse the Echo and Splosh controls to have re

Shimmer is a form of enchantment that connects all elements harmoniously, and when the combination of soil, vastness, atmosphere, and purity is just right, it produces an incredible sound.

I am enjoying the instruments that are available in the Vault at the moment, and I anticipate that there will be many more unique and delightful additions in the future, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.

If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I recommend starting with Attic Piano and gradually moving on to Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful little offerings that are available for free.

Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company as part of the Vaults plugins.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the specific question, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.

It has been 7 months since the previous release of LABS, which used to come out monthly. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, but since he left, it seems that the project lost its momentum.

I don't believe there will be any new LABS released, unless Henson changes his mind and returns to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It appears to have a similar look and feel to LABS, and it seems like there will be many more patches available for it in the future!

Oh no! My cunning scheme to initiate a revolution using the comment section of a website has been foiled once again. Well done, sir. Well done… *the sound of thunder in the distance*

I would like to know the reason behind the removal of my comment regarding Christian being a transphobe. I didn't make any offensive remarks; I simply aimed to raise awareness among people about who they choose to support.

Sorry, but

Musicians who are truly passionate about their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. They have practical concerns like jobs and bills to meet, leaving them with little time to be bothered by the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. I kindly ask you to refrain from making any comments about politics or other subjects unrelated to music production. These types of discussions tend to become heated, and I want to maintain a positive and peaceful environment on BPB. There are plenty of other platforms where these topics can be discussed. My goal is for BPB to be a place where people, including myself, can learn about music, engage in music-related conversations with fellow music enthusiasts, and escape the toxicity that often exists online. Thank you.
