Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. Experience the Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library offered for free by The Crow Hill Company. The release of Shimmer Guitar marks it as the fourth instrument in The Crow Hill Company's complimentary Vaults series.

Christian Henson is the creator of the Crow Hill Company. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar. Recently, the company has introduced Shimmer Guitar, which is the latest addition to the FREE Vaults series.

Currently, there are a total of four instruments available for free in the Vault. These instruments include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.

All of these instruments, as well as previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common trait, which is their unique and recognizable personality or character.

The uniqueness of the character of a musical instrument is often derived from factors such as its specific model, a distinct aging process, the recording location, or a combination of these elements.

The shimmer guitar is created by using an old, well-preserved musical instrument, a classic amplifier, and the renowned recording studios of a globally recognized orchestra.

The guitar used for recording was a Gibson Les Paul with a hollow-body design, even though that was not the initial intention. The initial plan was to buy a vintage guitar on the day of the recording, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was chosen.

Although it was initially promising, the Kay had to be replaced with the Les Paul due to certain technical problems. The Les Paul proved to be a suitable substitute.

The recording session happened at Lyndhurst Hall in AIR Studios located in London. In order to capture the essential quality of the sound, they used a vintage Supro tube amp alongside the Les Paul.

The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, three Marshall stacks were placed on the upper level of the hall along with delay pedals to create the desired atmosphere.

Similar to the rest of the instruments in Vaults, the Shimmer Guitar also includes six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls and four smaller ones positioned below.

The main features of this device are the Filter, which controls the low-pass effect, and the Shimmer effect. Additionally, there are other controls such as Drive, which adds a British-style dirt effect, Mod for flange effect, Echo for echo effect, and Splosh. It is also possible to reverse the Echo and Splosh settings to have reverb before the delay effect.

Shimmer can be described as the enchanting element that connects all things, and when a perfect combination of soil, environment, atmosphere, and distinctness is achieved, it produces a truly remarkable sound.

I am enjoying the instruments available in the Vault currently, and I anticipate the possibility of more unique and delightful additions, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.

If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I suggest beginning with Attic Piano and progressing towards Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful small gifts that you can enjoy without any cost.

Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is being given away for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company as part of the Vaults plugins.

Is LABS no longer active or functioning?

In response to the specific question, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.

It has been seven months since the previous release of LABS, which used to occur on a monthly basis. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, and since he is no longer around, it seems that the project lost its momentum.

I don't believe there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar look and feel to LABS, and it seems like there will be plenty of new patches for it in the future.

Oh no! My devious scheme to incite a revolution by manipulating the comment section of a website has been foiled yet again. I must admit, you have outsmarted me. Well done, sir. Well done… *the sound of thunder can be heard in the distance*

I'm curious as to why my comment about Christian being a transphobe was removed. I didn't say anything offensive; I simply wanted to raise awareness about who people are choosing to support.

I'm sorry

Musicians who are truly dedicated to their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origins. They have responsibilities such as jobs and bills to take care of, leaving them with limited time to concern themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Please refrain from commenting on political topics, such as gender politics, or any other subjects unrelated to music production. These types of discussions tend to become heated, and I do not want to allow that on BPB. There are plenty of other platforms where such topics can be discussed. My goal for BPB is to provide a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, engage in music-related conversations with fellow music enthusiasts, and escape the toxicity that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
