Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle, a comprehensive collection of tools and resources for creating electronic music. Additionally, The Crow Hill Company has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library that is available for free. This release marks the fourth installment in their ongoing FREE Vaults series.
The brainchild of Christian Henson, The Crow Hill Company, is known for its previous work with Spitfire Audio. Their latest release, Shimmer Guitar, is the fourth instrument in their FREE Vaults series, which should be recognizable to those familiar with Christian's previous work.
Currently, the Vault offers a collection of four instruments that can be accessed at no cost. These include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.
All of these instruments, including previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common trait which is their unique personality or character.
The uniqueness of the character in a musical instrument is often attributed to factors such as its specific model, a particular aging process, the recording location, or a combination of these elements.
The Shimmer guitar is created by combining a guitar that has been used for a long time, an old-fashioned amplifier, and a renowned recording studio that specializes in orchestral music.
Originally, the intention was to acquire an old, pre-owned vintage guitar for the recording session. However, the outcome differed from the plan, and a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was ultimately chosen instead. This guitar was not a Gibson Les Paul, unlike what was initially intended.
Even though it was initially thought to be a good choice, the Kay had to be replaced with the Les Paul due to certain technical problems. The Les Paul was deemed a suitable replacement.
The recording session occurred at Lyndhurst Hall, which is located in AIR Studios in London. In order to accurately capture the essence and unique qualities of the sound, the Les Paul guitar was paired with a classic Supro tube amplifier.
The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, three Marshall stacks with delay effects were strategically placed on the upper level of the hall in order to create the desired atmosphere.
Similar to other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar is equipped with six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls, as well as four smaller controls positioned below
The main controls of this device are Filter, which is a low-pass filter, and Shimmer. Additionally, there are other controls such as Drive, which adds British-style dirt to the sound, Mod, which applies a flange effect, Echo, and Splosh. By adjusting the settings of Echo and Splosh, you can choose whether the reverb comes before or after the delay effect.
Shimmer is the enchanting element that connects all things, and when you have the perfect combination of earthiness, vastness, atmosphere, and crispness, it produces an incredibly captivating sound.
I am enjoying the variety of instruments available in the Vault, and I anticipate that there will be even more unique and delightful additions, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.
If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, begin by listening to Attic Piano and then progress to Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful little offerings that can be obtained for free.
Take a look at this amazing offer: The Shimmer Guitar is available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company, as a part of the Vaults plugins collection.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the specific question, it appears that the subject in question is not functioning or active.
It has been seven months since the previous LABS release, which used to occur on a monthly basis. LABS was primarily Christian's project, and with his departure, it seems to have lost momentum.

I don't believe there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the tradition of LABS with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and functionality to LABS, and it seems like there will be many more patches available for it in the future.

Oh no! My cunning scheme to incite a revolution by manipulating the comment section of a website has been foiled once again. I must admit, you have outsmarted me. Impressive.. . *a distant sound of thunder*

I'm curious as to why my comment regarding Christian being a transphobe was deleted. I didn't say anything disrespectful; I simply wanted to educate others about the person they choose to support.
I'm sorry
Musicians who are truly passionate about their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. They are more concerned about their own artistic standards rather than being influenced by others' opinions or personal lives. Additionally, they have responsibilities such as jobs and bills to pay, leaving them with limited time to engage in unnecessary concerns.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Please refrain from making any comments about politics, including gender politics, or any other topics unrelated to music production. These types of discussions often become heated, and I do not want that on BPB. There are plenty of other places where such discussions can take place. My goal for BPB is to create a space where people can learn about music, engage in music-related discussions with other music enthusiasts, and find a peaceful environment away from the negativity that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
