Get a Sneak Peek at NUSofting’s Glitch Pad Synth: Free Beta Available for a Limited Time

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab from Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.

The Glitch Pad public beta can currently be accessed in both VST2 and VST3 formats, specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.

NUSofting usually offers both Windows and Mac versions for their complete plugins. Therefore, Mac users will likely have the opportunity to participate in the action when the 1.0 release is available.

The origins of the plugin can be traced back many years ago to the release of the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch in 2002.

Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently revamped the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, which has led to the creation of a brand new VST synthesizer.

The latest edition of the software has been programmed in C++ from the ground up and can be accessed in its initial beta version through the developer's website, provided in the link below.

The beta version is completely operational and comes with 23 pre-set options.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click procedure. There is no need to log in or provide any personal information in order to obtain the Zip file.

A unique and nostalgic sound of the Glitch Pad has been featured in an unofficial demonstration video on YouTube.

The synthesizer would be well-suited for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game soundtracks.

The names of the presets give a clue about the different styles that are represented, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.

At first sight, the interface of Glitch Pad contains a significant amount of information to absorb.

In terms of appearance and design, there is scope for enhancement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, one can only have limited expectations.

Towards the lower section of the user interface, you will find a keyboard and a tool for selecting pre-set options. Positioned above that, there is a graphical display that visually represents the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users will have a two-month period to take part in the beta version. The beta version is set to expire by the end of March 2024.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released for free after the beta testing phase, as NUSofting has previously introduced both paid and free versions of their software.

NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy their sound, it would be worth exploring their other available products.

It is uncertain whether the synth will continue to be offered for free once the beta period is over.

"Please make sure to include in the title that this plugin is specifically designed for Windows." Oh, I see that you already did that. Thank you, but unfortunately, it is coming a bit late. People who use Apple devices have been consistently complaining about it in the comment section, and it has now become an ongoing joke within the BPB community.

Windows snobbery is just as prevalent as Mac snobbery. Although I personally do not use a Mac, it is clear that the majority of people who claim to be indifferent towards the topic of operating systems are actually Windows users. This can be observed by their presence in the comments section.

This thing is quite amusing. It has some great concepts, such as the functionality of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if there was an LFO available for each destination and more diverse shapes, including some quirky ones for better randomization. It's possible that these suggestions are already being addressed since it's in beta, but just in case they're not… 😀

Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer from Nusofting, has not received enough recognition for his work. It is truly remarkable!

That's great! However, I have a complaint. I really miss the feature called "rewire". I believe that if it was still available, it would make these beginner DAWs much more useful. It would allow them to easily work alongside the DAWs we already use. It's surprising to me that such a useful feature is no longer available and hasn't been properly replaced yet, considering how technology has advanced. Yes, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but rewire allowed for seamless transfer of MIDI and audio between DAWs without any issues or delays, while keeping everything in sync.
