For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for just $10. NUSofting has recently made their Glitch Pad Synth Beta available for free on Windows. This experimental synthesizer plugin will be in beta until the end of March.
The public beta version of Glitch Pad software is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
NUSofting usually releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems, which means that Mac users will most likely be able to join in on the action when the 1.0 version is released.
The roots of the plugin can be traced back to the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch, which was introduced in 2002 and has been developing for several decades.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently revamped the initial algorithm and created an enhanced oscillator, which has led to the development of a brand new VST synthesizer.
The latest edition of the software is built using C++ programming language and can be accessed in its initial beta version on the developer's website, provided in the link below.
The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click action. Users do not need to provide any login or personal information to obtain the Zip file.
A unique and nostalgic sound of the Glitch Pad is already being demonstrated in an unofficial demo video available on YouTube.
The synthesizer would be well-suited for genres like ambient, unconventional soundtracks, and music specifically created for video games.
The preset names give a clue about the different styles present in the echoes, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.
When you first look at the interface for Glitch Pad, there is a lot of information and features to absorb.
In terms of appearance and organization, there is definitely some potential for enhancement. However, it is important to keep in mind that this is a free beta version, so one can only anticipate a certain level of quality.
Towards the lower section of the interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector available. Above these elements, you can see a graphical depiction of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to participate in the beta for a period of two months until the end of March 2024, after which it will expire.
It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or be released as freeware after the beta phase. NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products, so the outcome is still unclear.
NUSofting is offering discounts on some of their synthesizers at the moment. If you enjoy the sound, it would be worth exploring their other released products.
It is currently unknown whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"Make sure to mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you already did that. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, it's a bit too late now. People complaining about it not being compatible with Apple devices in the comment section has become a running joke in the BPB community.

There is a certain level of snobbery associated with both Windows and Mac users. Even though I personally don't use a Mac, it is important to acknowledge that the majority of people who claim to be uninterested in discussing operating systems are typically Windows users. This attitude is also evident in the comments section.

This product is quite interesting. It has some great features, such as the way the pitch envelope functions. It would greatly improve if it had a separate LFO for each destination and more varied shapes, including some unconventional ones for better randomization. It's possible that these improvements are already being developed since it's in beta, but just in case they're not… 😀

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce exceptional sounds! Luigi from Nusofting has consistently been underappreciated as a developer. His work is truly impressive!

That's great! However, I have a complaint. I really wish Rewire was still available. If it was, these beginner-level digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more valuable as they could seamlessly work alongside the DAWs we already use. It's surprising that such a useful tool has been discontinued without a proper replacement. Although there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, Rewire allowed for direct transfer of MIDI and audio without any problems or delays, ensuring everything stayed in sync.
