Get a Sneak Peek of NUSofting’s Glitch Pad Synth with Free Public Beta for Windows

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for just $10. NUSofting has recently released a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.

The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible in VST2 and VST3 formats specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.

NUSofting usually offers full-release plugins for both Windows and Mac users, so it is likely that Mac users will have access to the software once version 1.0 is released.

The plugin first originated many years ago in 2002 when the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch was released.

The founder of NUSofting, Luigi, has recently revised the initial algorithm and created a more advanced oscillator, which has led to the development of a brand-new VST synthesizer.

The latest release is developed using C++ programming language and can be accessed in a preliminary beta version from the developer's website, as provided in the link below.

The beta version is completely operational and comes with 23 pre-configured settings.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click action. Users do not need to login or provide any personal information in order to obtain the Zip file.

A video on YouTube has been released, featuring an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad. The video highlights the unique sound of the Glitch Pad, which has a nostalgic retro vibe.

The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.

The names of the presets give hints about the different styles, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.

When you first look at the interface of Glitch Pad, there is a large amount of information to absorb.

In terms of appearance and design, there is potential for enhancement, but considering that it is a free beta version, it is understandable to have certain limitations.

Towards the lower part of the interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Above that, there is a graphical depiction of the waveform.

Participants in the beta version of the plugin will have a timeframe of two months to engage with it. The interface of the plugin states that it will no longer be available after March 2024.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or be released as freeware after the beta phase. This uncertainty arises because NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products.

NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of these synths, it may be worth exploring their other available options.

It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"Please make sure to mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows." Oh, you've already done that. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, the comments section is now filled with Apple users complaining, and it has become a well-known joke within the BPB community.

I want to address the issue of people being snobby about their choice of operating system, specifically Windows. Even though I don't personally use a Mac, it's clear that the majority of people who claim to be indifferent towards the whole operating system discussion are actually Windows users. This behavior is also prevalent in the comments section.

Sorry, but

This is an interesting and enjoyable thing. It has some good ideas, like the way the pitch envelope works. It would be even better if there was a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) for each of the destinations, and maybe more shapes available, including some unique ones for better randomization. Since it's in beta, it's possible that these suggestions are already being considered, but just in case they're not… 😀

That's great! However, I have a little rant about how I miss the feature called "rewire". I believe that if rewire was still available, all these beginner digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more beneficial. They could easily complement the DAWs we already use. It's crazy to think that as technology advances, such a useful feature is no longer available and hasn't been properly replaced yet. Sure, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a plugin called Blutcat, but rewire allowed for seamless transmission and reception of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
