For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth, which is available for free to Windows users until the end of March.
The Glitch Pad public beta is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
NUSofting generally releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems, so Mac users can expect to have access to the software once it is officially released as version 1.0.
The plugin's origins can be traced back many years ago to when the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch was first released in 2002.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently reworked the original algorithm and created an enhanced oscillator, which has led to the development of a new VST synthesizer.
The developer has created a new version of the software using C++ programming language. This updated version is currently in its early beta stage and can be accessed through the developer's website, which is provided as a link below.
The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 preconfigured settings.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click process. Users do not need to log in or provide any personal information to obtain the Zip file.
A unique and nostalgic sound of the Glitch Pad has been demonstrated in an unofficial demo available on YouTube.
The synthesizer would be well-suited for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The preset names of echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir suggest the different styles that are represented in the presets.
At first glance, the interface for Glitch Pad appears to be quite overwhelming with a lot of elements to absorb.
In terms of appearance and organization, there is some potential for enhancement. However, it is important to remember that this is a free beta version, so one should not expect too much.
Towards the lower part of the user interface, you will find a keyboard and a pre-set selector. Positioned above these elements is a graphical representation of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users can participate in the beta for a period of two months, which will come to an end in March 2024.
It is uncertain if the Glitch Pad will be released as a paid product or as freeware after the beta phase. NUSofting has previously released both paid and free products, so it is unclear which route they will take with the Glitch Pad.
NUSofting is offering discounts on some of their synthesizers at the moment. If you enjoy the sound of their products, it could be worth exploring their other releases.
It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"You should make it clear in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you already mentioned that. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, it's been too late as now the criticism from Apple users in the comment section has become a regular joke at BPB.

There is a similar level of snobbery among Windows users. Even though I don't use a Mac myself, it is evident that the majority of people who claim to be indifferent towards the topic of operating systems are actually Windows users. This attitude is also prevalent in the comments section.

This is an interesting and amusing tool. I appreciate the way the pitch envelope functions. It would be even better if there was a separate low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination, as well as additional unconventional shapes for more diverse randomization. It's possible that these improvements are already being addressed since it's still in the beta stage, but just in case they aren't, it would be great to see them implemented.

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer from Nusofting, has often been overlooked but creates remarkable content!

I really like this! Although, I have a bit of a complaint. I really miss the feature called "rewire!" I believe that if rewire was still available, these beginner digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more useful. They would be able to easily complement the DAWs that we already use. It's crazy to me that as technology advances, such a useful feature is no longer available and hasn't been properly replaced yet. Sure, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but rewire allowed for seamless sending and receiving of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW, without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
