For a limited period, you can purchase Future Audio Workshop's SubLab for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available for free until the end of March.
The public beta version of Glitch Pad can currently be accessed in VST2 and VST3 formats specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.
NUSofting typically releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Therefore, Mac users can expect to have access to the plugin upon its 1.0 release.
The plugin has its roots in the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch, which was released in 2002 and has been evolving for several decades.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently modified the initial algorithm and created an enhanced oscillator, leading to the development of a brand-new VST synthesizer.
The latest edition of the software has been developed using C++ programming language and can be accessed in its early beta version through the website of the developer, which is provided as a hyperlink below.
The beta version is operating at full capacity and consists of 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click process. Users do not need to provide any personal information or login credentials to obtain the Zip file.
A video on YouTube has already been released, featuring an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad. The video highlights its unique and nostalgic sound.
The synthesizer would be well-suited for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The preset names, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir, give a glimpse of the different styles that are represented.
At first sight, the interface of Glitch Pad appears to contain a lot of information.
In terms of appearance and design, there are areas that could be enhanced. However, considering that it is a free beta version, one can only anticipate a limited level of improvement.
Located at the lower part of the interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Above this, there is a graphical depiction of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users will be given a two-month period to take part in the beta testing. The plugin will no longer be accessible by the end of March 2024.
It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will transition into a paid product or remain as freeware after the beta testing phase. This uncertainty stems from NUSofting's history of releasing both paid and free software in the past.
NUSofting is currently offering discounts on a few of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of their products, it would be worth exploring their other available releases.
It is currently unknown whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period concludes.

"You should mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you have already done that. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, it's too late. The Apple users expressing their dissatisfaction in the comment section has now become a well-known joke in the BPB community.

There is a comparable level of snobbery between Windows and Mac users. Although I personally do not use a Mac, it is clear that the individuals who claim to be superior and dismissive of the whole operating system debate are primarily Windows users. Their presence is also evident in the comments section.

This is an interesting and enjoyable little thing. It has some great ideas, particularly the way the pitch envelope functions. However, it would greatly improve if it had a separate low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination, as well as more diverse shapes, including some unconventional ones, for better randomization. It's possible that these improvements are already being addressed in the beta version, but if not, it would be a wonderful addition. 🙂

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer at Nusofting, has not received enough recognition for his great work. It's really impressive!

That's great! But I have a little complaint. I really miss the feature called "rewire". If it was still available, these beginner digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more valuable because they could easily work alongside the DAWs we already use. It's unbelievable that as technology advances, such a useful feature has been discontinued and not effectively replaced yet. Sure, there are options like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but rewire allowed for seamless sending and receiving of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW, without any issues or delays, while keeping everything in sync.
