For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for just $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.
The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible in VST2 and VST3 formats specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.
NUSofting usually releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems, which means that Mac users will most likely be able to access and use the plugin once it is released in version 1.0.
The origins of the plugin can be traced back to the release of the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch in 2002, which happened several decades ago.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently reworked the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, leading to the creation of a brand new VST synthesizer.
The latest edition of the software is developed using C++ programming language and is currently in the early beta stage. You can access the beta version through the developer's website, which is provided as a link below.
The initial version of the product is completely operational and comes with 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the plugin download process by making it a one-click action, without the need for any login or personal information.
A unique and nostalgic sound of the Glitch Pad has been demonstrated in an unofficial demo video available on YouTube.
The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The preset names like echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir give a hint about the different styles that are represented.
When you first look at the interface for Glitch Pad, there is a lot of information to absorb.
In terms of appearance and design, there is potential for enhancement, but considering that it is a free beta version, one should not expect too much.
Towards the lower section of the interface, you will find a keyboard and a preset selector. Above these elements, there is a graphical display that represents the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to participate in the beta for a period of two months, with the expiration date set at the end of March 2024.
It remains uncertain if the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released for free after the beta phase, since NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products.
Currently, there are a few synths from NUSofting that are being offered at a discounted price. If you enjoy the sound of these synths, it would be worth exploring their other releases as well.
It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

This is an amusing little thing. It has some good ideas, particularly concerning the way the pitch envelope functions. It would greatly improve if there was a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination, and maybe more diverse shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance randomization. It's possible that these improvements are already being addressed since it's still in beta, but just in case they're not… 😀

Wow, that's great! But I have a little rant to share. I really miss the feature called "rewire". I believe that if it was still available, these beginner digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more valuable. They would be able to easily complement the existing tools we use. It's crazy to think that as technology advances, such a useful feature has disappeared and hasn't been adequately replaced yet. Sure, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but rewire allowed for seamless sending and receiving of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW, without any issues or delays, while keeping everything synchronized.
