For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their new Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March. This synthesizer plugin offers experimental features and is a great opportunity to try it out before its official release.
The Glitch Pad public beta is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows operating systems in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
NUSofting usually offers complete plugins that are compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Therefore, Mac users can expect to have access to the plugins once they are officially released in version 1.0.
The origins of the plugin can be traced back to the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch, which was released in 2002 and has been around for several decades.
The creator of NUSofting, Luigi, has recently reworked the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, leading to the creation of a new VST synthesizer.
The developer has created a new version of the software using C++ programming language. This early beta version can be accessed through the developer's website, which is provided in the link below.
The beta version is completely operational and comes with 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a simple one-click process. You don't need to log in or provide any personal information to obtain the Zip file.
On YouTube, you can find an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad that features a unique sound with a hint of nostalgia.
The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The preset names like echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir give a hint about the different styles.
At first sight, the interface of Glitch Pad appears to be quite overwhelming with a lot of information to absorb.
In terms of appearance and design, there is potential for enhancement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, one should not have excessively high expectations.
Towards the lower part of the interface, you will find a keyboard and a preset selector. Positioned above these elements is a graphical representation of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to engage in the beta testing for a period of two months, until the expiration date in March 2024.
It remains uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or be released as freeware after the beta testing period, as NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products.
NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you are pleased with their sound, it could be worthwhile to explore their other available options.
It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"Please include in the title that this plugin is specifically designed for Windows"… oh, you've already done that. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, it's been done too late. The complaints from Apple users in the comment section have now become an established joke within the BPB community.

There is a similar level of snobbery among Windows users. Although I don't use a Mac myself, it is evident that the majority of people who claim to be indifferent towards the operating system debate are actually Windows users. This attitude is also noticeable in the comments section.

This thing is quite amusing. It has some interesting concepts, such as the functionality of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if it had a Low-Frequency Oscillator (LFO) for each destination, and maybe more diverse shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance the randomization. It's possible that these suggestions are already being considered since it's in beta, but if not, it would be great to see them implemented! 🙂

The Glitch Pad software has the ability to produce impressive sounds. Luigi from Nusofting is a developer who has not received enough recognition for his work. He has created some remarkable products!

That's great! But I want to express my frustration about the absence of Rewire. I believe that if Rewire still existed, these "intro DAWs" would be much more beneficial as they could seamlessly integrate with our existing setups. It's astonishing that as technology advances, such a useful tool has been discontinued without a proper replacement. While there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, Rewire allowed for the direct transfer of MIDI and audio between DAWs without any problems or delays, all while keeping everything in sync.
