You can save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. The Crow Hill Company has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, which is a guitar sample library available for free. This release is a part of the FREE Vaults series by The Crow Hill Company.
The Crow Hill Company is a project created by Christian Henson. If you're familiar with Christian's previous work at Spitfire Audio, you'll find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company has launched Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument to be released in the FREE Vaults series.
Currently, the Vault offers a collection of four instruments that are available for free. These instruments include Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.
All of these instruments, as well as previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common feature, which is their unique personality or character.
The uniqueness of the character usually arises from factors such as the instrument being a distinct model, having a specific age, being recorded in a particular location, or a combination of these elements.
Shimmer guitar is the result of blending a matured musical instrument, a classic amplifier, and an iconic recording studio known for its orchestral productions.
The guitar used for recording was a Gibson Les Paul with a hollow body, although it was not the initial intention. Originally, the plan was to buy a vintage second-hand guitar on the recording day, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was acquired.
Although it may have initially seemed promising, certain technical problems arose with the Kay, resulting in it being replaced by the Les Paul, which was a suitable alternative.
The recording was done at AIR Studios in London, specifically in Lyndhurst Hall. In order to accurately capture the unique qualities of the sound, the Les Paul guitar was paired with an old Supro tube amplifier.
The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, there were three Marshall stacks placed in the upper level of the hall with delay effects to create the desired atmosphere.
Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar includes six macros. These macros consist of two large central controls as well as four smaller controls located below them.
The main features of this device are the Filter, which is a low-pass filter, and the Shimmer effect. Additionally, it includes the Drive feature, which provides a British-style distortion, the Mod feature, which adds a flanger effect, and the Echo and Splosh features for delay effects. You can also reverse the Echo and Splosh to apply reverb before the delay effect.
Shimmer is the enchanting element that connects all things, and when you have a perfect combination of earthiness, openness, atmosphere, and purity, it produces an incredibly pleasing sound.
I am enjoying the instruments that are currently available in the Vault, and I am looking forward to the possibility of more unique and delightful additions in the future, similar to what Spitfire Audio has done with their LABS collection.
If you haven't explored any of Vaults' content, begin by trying out Attic Piano and gradually move on to Shimmer Guitar – they are delightful small gifts available for free.
Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company as part of the Vaults plugins package.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the specific inquiry, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.
It has been seven months since the last LABS release, which used to occur on a monthly basis. LABS was primarily associated with Christian, and since his departure, it seems to have lost momentum and come to a halt.

I don't anticipate any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the tradition with Vaults. Vaults bears a strong resemblance to LABS and it seems like there will be plenty of new patches released for it in the future!

Oh no! My clever scheme to incite a revolution by engaging in a website's comment section has been foiled yet again. You have outsmarted me, sir. Impressive move indeed… *the sound of thunder can be heard in the distance*

I'm curious as to why you removed my comment regarding Christian's alleged transphobic behavior. I didn't say anything offensive; I simply wanted to bring awareness to people about who they are choosing to support.
I'm sorry
Genuine musicians prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. They are occupied with their job responsibilities and financial obligations, leaving them with no time to concern themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Please refrain from commenting on political topics, including gender politics, or any other subjects unrelated to music production. These types of discussions tend to become heated, and I do not want that on BPB. There are plenty of other platforms where such conversations can take place. My goal for BPB is to be a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, engage in music-related discussions with other music enthusiasts, and find some respite from the negativity that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
