Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. Autobeat is an AI drum sequencer plugin that is available for free. Axart Software has recently launched AutoBeat, a drum sequencer plugin for Windows and macOS which comes in both free and paid versions.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently gaining a lot of attention and popularity. In addition to the previously mentioned free AI music generators, this technology is now being utilized for MIDI generation, audio editing, and various other purposes.

I have previous knowledge of Axart Software's impressive mKer sequencer suite for the iPad. However, I was taken aback to discover that they also offer an AI-powered drum sequencer for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

While AutoBeat does offer a paid option, there is still a lot to discover and enjoy with the free version. Therefore, let's delve further and examine its features.

The foundation of Autobeat revolves around a variety of music styles that can create drum beats. There are 8 genres available to choose from, including electronic genres such as house, techno, and DnB.

Additionally, there are a total of 12 tracks available for use in this software, which should be sufficient for the majority of MIDI-based drum machines on both Windows and Mac operating systems. In my personal experience, I found it beneficial to utilize Autobeat in combination with Algonaut's Atlas.

Since I had already decided to use artificial intelligence (AI), I thought it would be best to fully embrace it and aim for the highest level of success.

You have the option to choose the thickness, size, and strength of each design. The randomness feature also adds a touch of organized disorder to the combination.

I discovered that setting it to approximately 25% yielded the best results, as I observed that things started becoming abstract too rapidly at other settings.

With Autobeat's paid version, you have the option to export MIDI to the drum machine plugin that you prefer. If you are comfortable with routing MIDI, you will definitely enjoy this feature.

I appreciate the flexibility of being able to customize the mapping of elements according to my workflow. The interface is user-friendly and easy to understand, and it offers the option to mute or solo individual tracks out of the 12 available. Furthermore, it allows the storage of multiple patterns, with a total of 128 patterns that can be saved across 8 different prompts.

If you're struggling with finding inspiration for percussive elements, Autobeat is a great option to consider. However, I did need to make some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of my Atlas kits that I wanted to improve on.

Nevertheless, after getting the hang of it, I quickly started making progress!

Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac computers. It is designed specifically for Apple Silicon, which is a great feature to have.

When using it in Ableton, it creates MIDI data but does not produce any sound. Therefore, you have to run it in a channel and redirect the MIDI into another channel that has a drum kit or virtual instrument plugin.

Hmm, now it has completely ceased to function.

Sorry, but

FL studio crashes immediately when I attempt to select any button, causing it to stop functioning.

This is not artificial intelligence at all, but rather just a collection of patterns.

I tested it using Ableton Live 11 on a Dell G5s Ryzen 17 with 16GB of RAM running Windows 10. I installed and loaded a VST plugin in a MIDI channel, and also loaded a Live Impulse drum application. I followed a video tutorial and discovered that I needed to route the MIDI channel in order to use the drum VST. After linking and pressing play, I realized there was no sound. I tried again with a different application, hoping to assign the MIDI notes to the loaded samples, but still had no luck. As a result, I uninstalled the application. I found it quicker to manually load the VST3 and dll Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.

The Axart website is not accessible anymore, which raises some suspicion.
