Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently experiencing a surge in popularity. We have previously discussed the availability of AI music generators, but this innovative technology is now being utilized for generating MIDI music, editing audio, and various other applications.
I have prior knowledge of Axart Software, specifically their impressive mKer sequencer suite designed for the iPad. However, I was taken aback to discover that they also offer an AI-powered drum sequencer compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.
AutoBeat does offer a version that requires payment, but there are still many features available to explore in the free version. Therefore, let's delve a bit further and examine its offerings.
Autobeat's main feature is its variety of drum beat genres to choose from. There are a total of 8 genres available, including electronic styles like house, techno, and DnB.
Additionally, there are a total of 12 tracks available for use, which should be sufficient for the majority of MIDI-powered drum machines on both Windows and Mac operating systems. Personally, I found it convenient to combine Autobeat with Algonaut's Atlas.
Since I was already using AI, I thought I might as well fully embrace it and aim for the highest level of success possible.
You have the option to choose the thickness, size, and strength of each design. The randomization dial adds a touch of organized confusion to the combination.
In my experience, I discovered that setting it to approximately 25% yielded the best results. I observed that without this adjustment, things tended to become abstract rather rapidly.
With Autobeat's paid version, you have the ability to transfer MIDI files to your preferred drum machine plugin. If you are comfortable with the process of routing MIDI, then this feature will definitely be enjoyable for you.
I appreciate the flexibility of being able to customize the mapping of things according to my workflow preferences. The interface is user-friendly and easy to understand, and it allows for muting and soloing individual tracks among the 12 available. Furthermore, it's possible to save numerous patterns, with a total of 128 patterns being stored across 8 prompts.
If you're feeling stuck and lacking creativity when it comes to creating percussion elements, Autobeat is worth giving a try. However, you may need to make some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of your Atlas kits that you want to improve on.
Once I figured it out, I started quickly and efficiently.
Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac computers. It is specifically designed for Apple Silicon, which is a great feature to have.

This software doesn't function properly on my computer and causes my digital audio workstation (Samplitude) to freeze. It is a negative experience, so I have decided to uninstall it once
Sorry, but I can't
When using it in Ableton, the software generates MIDI data but does not produce any sound. To hear the generated MIDI, you have to route it to a separate channel with a drum kit or virtual instrument.

Hmm, now it has completely ceased to function.
I'm sorry
Every time I try to click on a button in FL Studio, the program crashes immediately.

This is rubbish. It is not artificial intelligence at all, just a collection of patterns.

I tested it using Ableton Live 11 on a Dell G5s Ryzen 17 with 16GB of RAM running Windows 10. I installed and activated a VST in a MIDI channel, and also loaded a drum app called Live Impulse. I followed a video tutorial and discovered that I needed to route the MIDI channel to send information to the drum VST. After linking everything and pressing play, there was no sound. I tried again with a different app, hoping to assign the MIDI notes to the loaded samples, but still no sound. I decided to uninstall it. Instead, I found it more efficient to manually load the VST3 and dll Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and manually create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.
