Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently very popular. Previously, we discussed AI music generators that are available for free. However, AI is now being utilized for various other purposes such as generating MIDI and editing audio.
I am already acquainted with Axart Software and their impressive mKer sequencer suite designed for the iPad. However, I was taken aback to discover that they also offer an AI-powered drum sequencer for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
While AutoBeat does offer a paid version, there are still many features to discover and utilize in the free version. Therefore, let's delve further and examine its offerings.
Autobeat revolves around a variety of music genres that can create drum beats. There are 8 genres to choose from, including electronic music styles such as house, techno, and DnB.
Additionally, there are 12 tracks available for use, which should be sufficient for the majority of MIDI-based drum machines that are compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. In my personal experience, I utilized Autobeat in conjunction with Algonaut's Atlas.
Since I was already using AI, I decided to fully embrace it and aim for the highest level of success possible.
You have the option to choose the thickness, size, and strength of each design. The randomization dial also adds a touch of organized unpredictability to the combination.
In my experience, I discovered that setting it to approximately 25% yielded the most effective results. I observed that without this setting, things tended to become abstract rapidly.
The upgraded version of Autobeat offers the feature to transfer MIDI files to your preferred drum machine plugin. If you are comfortable with setting up MIDI routing, you will be pleasantly surprised by this capability.
I appreciate the flexibility of being able to customize the way things are organized according to my workflow. The user interface is intuitive and easy to understand, and each of the 12 tracks has its own mute and solo options. Moreover, it is possible to save multiple patterns, with a total of 128 patterns being stored across 8 prompts.
If you're struggling with creativity when it comes to percussive elements, Autobeat is a great option to consider. However, I did have to make some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of my Atlas kits that I wanted to work on.
Once I had figured it out, I was ready to go!
Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac computers. It is designed to work seamlessly with Apple Silicon, which is a great feature.
Get AutoBeat now by downloading it for free or purchasing the paid version.

This software is not functional for me and causes my digital audio workstation (Samplitude) to become unresponsive. It is causing problems, so I have removed it from my system.
Sorry, but I'm unable
When using it in Ableton, it creates MIDI data but does not produce any sound. To hear the generated sounds, you must run it through a channel and route the MIDI into a separate channel that contains a drum kit or virtual instrument.
I'm sorry, but the
Hmm, now it has completely ceased to function.
I am sorry

This is rubbish. It does not have any form of artificial intelligence at all, it is simply a collection of patterns.

I tested it out using Ableton Live 11 on a Dell G5s Ryzen 17 with 16GB of RAM running Windows 10. I installed and loaded a VST in a MIDI channel, as well as loaded a Live Impulse drum app. I followed a video tutorial and discovered that I needed to route the MIDI channel to connect with the drum VST. I linked everything and pressed play, but there was no sound. I tried again with a different app, hoping to assign MIDI notes to the loaded samples, but still no success. I decided to uninstall it. Instead, I found it quicker to manually load the VST3 and DLL Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and manually create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.
