Autobeat, a drum sequencer plugin powered by artificial intelligence, is now available for free. Axart Software has recently launched the AutoBeat plugin, which can be used on both Windows and macOS platforms. Additionally, there is also a premium version of the plugin available for purchase.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently a popular and highly talked about topic. Previously, we discussed the availability of AI music generators that are free to use. However, AI technology is now also being utilized for tasks such as creating MIDI files, editing audio, and various other

I have previous knowledge of Axart Software and their impressive mKer sequencer suite designed for the iPad. However, it came as a surprise to discover that they also have an AI-powered drum sequencer available for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

AutoBeat does offer a paid option, however, there is still a lot to discover and enjoy with the free version. Therefore, let's delve further into it and examine its features.

Autobeat's main feature is its collection of music genres that can be used to create drum beats. There are 8 genres to choose from, including electronic styles such as house, techno, and DnB.

Additionally, there are a total of 12 tracks available for use, which should be sufficient for the majority of MIDI-based drum machines compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Personally, I found it beneficial to utilize Autobeat in conjunction with Algonaut's Atlas.

Since I realized that I was using AI, I decided to fully embrace it and aim for the best possible outcome.

You have the option to choose how dense, long, and intense each pattern should be. The randomization dial also adds a touch of organized chaos to the combination.

I discovered that setting it to approximately 25% yielded the best results because I observed that things started to become abstract too rapidly otherwise.

With Autobeat's paid version, you have the option to export MIDI to the drum machine plugin you prefer. If you are comfortable with the process of routing MIDI, you will definitely enjoy this feature.

I appreciate the flexibility to customize the mapping of things according to my workflow. The interface is user-friendly and easy to understand, allowing for individual muting and soloing on each of the 12 tracks. Moreover, it is possible to save multiple patterns, with a total of 128 patterns stored across 8 prompts.

If you're struggling with creativity in creating percussive elements, Autobeat is a good option to consider. However, it may require some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of your Atlas kits that you want to work on.

After getting it set up properly, I quickly started making progress.

Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac computers. It is designed specifically for Apple Silicon, which is a great feature to have.

Terrible. This is not artificial intelligence in any way, just a collection of patterns.

I experimented with Ableton Live 11 on a Dell G5s Ryzen 17 with 16GB of RAM running Windows 10. I installed and loaded a VST in a midi channel, and also loaded a Live Impulse drum application. I followed a video tutorial and discovered that I needed to route the Midi channel to connect with the drum VST. After linking everything and pressing play, I realized there was no sound. I attempted the process again with a different application in order to assign the midi notes to the loaded samples, but still no sound. I decided to uninstall the program. Instead, I found it quicker to manually load the vst3 and dll Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.
