There are 40 pictures of a young George Strait available. He has been involved in the country music industry for over 40 years, although his personal interest in this genre only began during his high school years.
The individual who is now considered an iconic figure was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas. He was the son of Doris and John Strait. During his teenage years, he developed a strong interest in news radio and the farmer's report. This interest stemmed from his family's ownership of a large ranch, where he actively participated in helping out. As a result, he always had a desire to stay informed and knowledgeable about current events.
Strait began his music career during his time as a student at Pearsall High School. He was part of a rock 'n roll garage band called the Stoics. Even after he left for college, he continued pursuing music by becoming the vocalist for the country band Stoney Ridge. He found this opportunity by responding to a flyer that the band had put up on campus, searching for a new singer.
After taking on the role of the lead singer, Strait decided to change the band's name to the Ace in the Hole Band and took charge as the leader. They started performing at various honky-tonks and bars in the southern and central regions of Texas.
In the year 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. He then released his very first single titled "Unwound." This song achieved significant commercial success and reached the Top 10 charts in the country music genre during that period.
As George Strait's popularity increased, he made the decision to venture into the world of acting. In 1982, he landed a role in the film "The Soldier." Since then, he has made appearances in a number of other movies, most notably in "Pure Country." Additionally, Strait lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill."
This country heartthrob's success seemed unstoppable, and as the 1990s rolled around, he had become widely recognized and earned the enduring title of King of Country Music.
Throughout his career, Strait has achieved an impressive feat of accumulating over 60 songs that have reached the top spot on music charts. Additionally, his record sales have soared into the millions
