The individual who is now considered an icon was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas. He was the son of Doris and John Strait. During his teenage years, he was a passionate follower of news radio and the farmer's report. This interest stemmed from his family's ownership of a large ranch, where he actively contributed, leading to his desire to stay informed about current events.
Strait began his music career during his time as a student at Pearsall High School. He was part of a rock 'n roll garage band called the Stoics. When he went to college, he continued pursuing music and joined the country band Stoney Ridge. He became their new vocalist after responding to a flyer the band had put up on campus.
After taking on the role as the lead vocalist, Strait decided to change the name of the band to the Ace in the Hole Band and took charge as the frontman. They started performing at various honky-tonks and bars in the southern and central regions of Texas.
During the year 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. As a result, his debut single titled "Unwound" was released. This song achieved significant commercial triumph and reached the Top 10 chart position in the country music genre during that period.
After gaining more popularity, Strait decided to explore acting. In 1982, he got a role in the film called "The Soldier". Following that, he has made appearances in a couple of other films, with "Pure Country" being particularly noteworthy. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill".
This popular country singer could not be stopped and by the 1990s, he had become widely recognized and earned the enduring title of King of Country Music.
