Strait began his career in music during his time at Pearsall High School when he played in a garage band called the Stoics. Even after he went to college, he continued pursuing music by joining the country band Stoney Ridge after responding to a flyer they had put up on campus, searching for a new singer.

During the year 1981, MCA Records approached George Strait and he agreed to sign with them. As a result, he released his very first single titled "Unwound." This song achieved great success in the music industry, reaching the Top 10 chart position in the country music genre during that period.

After gaining more popularity, Strait made the decision to venture into the world of acting. In 1982, he successfully landed a role in the film "The Soldier". Following this, he had the opportunity to be a part of a few other movies, with "Pure Country" being particularly noteworthy. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill".

This country heartthrob's success was unstoppable, and by the 1990s, he had become incredibly popular, earning the well-deserved title of King of Country Music.
