There are 40 pictures available of a young George Strait, who has been involved in the country music industry for over four decades. Interestingly, George Strait only developed a passion for country music during his high school years.
On May 18, 1952, the famous individual was born in Poteet, Texas to parents Doris and John Strait. During his teenage years, he developed a strong interest in news radio and the farmer's report due to his family's ownership of a large ranch, which he actively assisted on. As a result, he always strived to stay informed and knowledgeable.
Strait began his music career during his time as a student at Pearsall High School, where he was a member of a rock 'n roll garage band called the Stoics. He continued pursuing music when he went to college and joined the country band Stoney Ridge after responding to a flyer they had put up on campus, which was looking for a new lead singer.
After taking on the role of the lead singer, Strait took charge and decided to change the band's name to the Ace in the Hole Band. Under his leadership, the group began performing at various honky-tonks and bars located in southern and central Texas.
During the year 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. As a result, he released his debut single titled "Unwound." The song achieved significant popularity and reached the Top 10 chart in the country music genre during that period.
After gaining more popularity, Strait decided to venture into the world of acting. In 1982, he got an opportunity to be a part of the film "The Soldier". Since then, he has also made appearances in a couple of other movies, with "Pure Country" being the most notable one. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill".
This country heartthrob was unstoppable, and by the 1990s, he had become widely known and earned the enduring title of King of Country Music.
Throughout his career, Strait has achieved an impressive feat of accumulating over 60 chart-topping songs and has achieved significant record sales on a global scale.
