There have been several haunting final concert performances by legendary artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was aware that his last concert would be his final one, while Daryle Singletary was unaware. However, this lack of knowledge only adds to the eerie feeling of the song he decided to close the night with.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a heartwarming anecdote circulated claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in gracefully exiting the stage, ensuring his dignity remained intact. However, this account turned out to be false. Toby Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.
In fact, the individual mentioned, actor W. Earl Brown, did not attend the event where Keith actually assisted Haggard in finishing. He had only heard about it.

Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert and uncovered a special moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from the final concert that are featured in the video above (and in pictures below).
Included in this video are the last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and the made-for-TV swan song of Waylon Jennings. It is a bittersweet compilation of these memorable moments.
We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are familiar with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you already know the incredible way he performed it. However, if you are not familiar with it, we highly recommend watching it.
