There have been six haunting final concerts by notable artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was fully aware that his last concert was approaching, while Daryle Singletary had no idea. However, this lack of awareness only adds to the haunting feeling of the song he decided to conclude the night with.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a compelling tale of how Toby Keith played a significant role in ensuring that Haggard's departure from the stage was dignified. However, this story turned out to be false. Keith did not actually attend Haggard's last performance, and the individual responsible for deceiving us into believing otherwise was also absent.
In fact, the actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the event where Keith actually assisted Haggard in completing the show. He had simply heard about it.

Taste of Country uncovered a critique of what turned out to be Haggard's last performance and found a touching moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero tale. This is one of six cherished memories from his final concert, which can be seen in the video above (and in the pictures below).
This video includes the last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and the made-for-TV swan song of Waylon Jennings, creating a bittersweet experience.
We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you're already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you'll understand exactly how remarkable it was. However, if you're not familiar with it, we highly recommend you continue watching as it's truly worth it.
