There were six concerts that had a particularly chilling atmosphere. These concerts were the final performances of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and others. George Jones was aware that his concert was his last, while Daryle Singletary was not. However, this lack of awareness only adds to the haunting nature of the song he decided to conclude the night with.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a compelling narrative about Toby Keith's assistance in ensuring Haggard's departure from the stage was carried out with utmost respect. However, it turned out that this story was false. Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.
In reality, the individual referred to as "that guy" who is an actor named W. Earl Brown, was not present at the event where Keith actually provided assistance to Haggard in completing his performance. He only became aware of it through word of mouth.

Taste of Country uncovered a review of what turned out to be Haggard's last concert and found a significant and heartwarming moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of the six memories from the final concert that is shared in the video above (and in the pictures below).
Included in this emotionally poignant video are John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell performance.
Our preferred performance is the Singletary performance. If you are acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you are aware of its significance. However, if you are not familiar with it, I encourage you to continue watching.
