There have been six final concerts that have left a lasting impact on the music world. One of these concerts was performed by Merle Haggard, another by Johnny Cash, and yet another by Daryle Singletary. Despite not knowing it was his final concert, Singletary's choice of song to close the night had an even more haunting effect.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a compelling narrative about Toby Keith assisting him in gracefully concluding his final performance. However, this account turned out to be false. Contrary to popular belief, Keith was not present during the Hag's last show, and the individual who deceived us into believing he was there was also absent.
In reality, actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith actually assisted Haggard in finishing. He simply learned about it from someone else.
Associated: 14 Country musicians who should be given greater recognition.
Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert and uncovered a special moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of the six memories from the final concert, which are shared in the video above and in the pictures below.
Included in this emotional video are John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.
We really enjoy the Singletary performance. If you are already familiar with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you know exactly what we mean. However, if you are not familiar with it, we suggest you continue watching because it's worth it.
There are six upcoming final concerts from legendary country music artists. This information is credited to Billy Dukes.
