Chilling Final Concerts: The Haunting Performances of Country Music Legends Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and More

  • by

There have been six haunting final concerts in history, featuring legendary artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was fully aware that his concert would be his last, while Daryle Singletary was unaware, which adds an even more eerie element to the song he performed to close the night.

Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a compelling narrative about Toby Keith assisting him in gracefully concluding his career. However, this account turned out to be false. Keith was not present at Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceived us into believing he was also nonexistent.

In reality, the individual mentioned, actor W. Earl Brown, did not attend the event where Keith actually assisted Haggard in completing the task. He only became aware of it through word of mouth.

Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert and uncovered a memorable moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is just one of six memories from the final concert, which can be seen in the video above and the pictures below.

Included in this poignant video are John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.

We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you are aware of where he ended it. However, if you are not familiar with it, continue watching.
