Nate Smith was seen spending time with pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne in Los Angeles, sparking speculation about their romantic involvement. However, a reliable source close to one of them has denied any truth to these rumors.
They are simply companions with no romantic involvement.
Both The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ posted different paparazzi videos of Smith and Lavigne hanging out together. The footage showed them engaging in an activity that is very typical of the "Sk8er Boi" singer – skateboarding.
A video from TMZ captures Lavigne getting out of the back of a black pickup truck at a gas station parking lot, holding a skateboard. Shortly after, Smith appears wearing his usual leather jacket and black baseball cap. He also has a skateboard, but it's evident that he is not as skilled as Lavigne – she effortlessly zooms past him on the sidewalk while he struggles to keep up, using the side of the truck for support.
Footage captured from the Hollywood Curtain reveals Smith and Lavigne exiting Catch Steak, a steakhouse located in Los Angeles. It remains uncertain if the two videos were recorded on the same evening, but Smith and Lavigne seem to be dressed in similar attire. However, it is worth noting that Lavigne would have needed to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before departing from dinner.

Lavigne's involvement with the country music community is not completely unexpected. During the 2023 CMA Fest, she and Miranda Lambert joined forces on stage to deliver a performance of "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi." Additionally, Lavigne was among the performers at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony held in Nashville. On this occasion, she paid tribute to fellow Canadian artist Shania Twain by performing Twain's song "No One Needs to Know."
