Woman Clings to Moving Car in Brave Attempt to Save Stolen Dog: The Heartbreaking Story of Onyx

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman demonstrated immense bravery as she desperately held on to the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and forcefully took the pet away.

The woman transported the dog, named Onyx, to a white car, which was being operated by another person.

With great bravery, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping after stealing Onyx. He courageously leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted the incident to CBS News, stating that when the car started moving and gaining speed, he firmly grasped onto the windshield wipers, determined not to let go. He expressed his sudden fear for his life during the unexpected turn of events.

A video capturing the incident has become widely popular, displaying Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

In an interview with NBC News, Zacharias recounted the incident in a TikTok video where she described how she initially thought her dog wanted to go smell something when he pulled the leash, so she let go. However, she was surprised to see a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. Determined to retrieve her dog, Zacharias stood in front of the car and insisted that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. The individuals in the car then proceeded to drive towards her, causing her to fall on the hood of the car. Despite this, she remained resolute and declared that she wouldn't leave until they returned her dog. Eventually, they began to drive away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempts to save his cute puppy were unsuccessful. He managed to hold on for a short distance before the vehicle abruptly changed direction, causing him to be thrown off and sustain minor injuries. Sadly, Onyx, the puppy, is still not found.

"No matter what I'm doing, it makes me feel sad that Onyx is not here with me or experiencing it. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I'm not buying anything for him. It feels like time has passed by so fast. It feels like this just happened, but it's actually been 10 days," she expressed.

Based on information from CBS, the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in a thorough investigation of the crime, which involves examining security footage as part of
