Woman’s Brave Act: Clinging to Moving Car in Desperate Attempt to Save Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman displayed immense bravery as she desperately clung to the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was with her dog, and abruptly took the pet away.

The woman transported the dog, who goes by the name Onyx, to a white vehicle that was being operated by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leapt onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced down a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted how he refused to release his grip on the car's windshield wipers, determined to hold on tight. He found himself startled as the car continued down the street, gradually accelerating, leaving him in a state of extreme fear for his life. This narrative was shared with CBS News.

There is a viral video circulating online that captures the incident, where Zacharias can be seen clinging onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, sharing that when he tugged on the leash, she initially thought he just wanted to go sniff something, so she let go. However, to her surprise, she saw a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them, she positioned herself in front of their car and firmly stated that they could not leave because they had taken her dog. Instead of listening to her plea, they deliberately drove into her, causing her to fall onto their car hood. Undeterred, she remained on the hood and insisted that she would not leave until they returned her dog. Unfortunately, despite her efforts, they drove away with her dog.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempts to save her cute dog were unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance before the car abruptly changed direction, causing her to fall off. As a result, she suffered only minor injuries like cuts and bruises. However, Onyx, her dog, is still nowhere to be found.

No matter what I'm currently engaged in, I feel a sense of sadness because I am not able to share the experience with Onyx or that he is not able to participate. For instance, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I am not purchasing anything for him. It feels like time is passing by rapidly, as if this situation just occurred. However, it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

The crime is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, as reported by CBS. The investigation includes the examination of security footage.
