Woman’s Brave Pursuit: Clinging to Moving Car in Desperate Bid to Save Stolen Beloved Dog

  • by

A brave woman in Los Angeles, California, took bold actions to rescue her treasured French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside of a Whole Foods supermarket. During this incident, a woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was the owner of a dog, and forcefully took the pet away from her

The woman transported Onyx, her dog, to a white vehicle that was being driven by another individual.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping after stealing Onyx. Without hesitation, she leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias expressed that he was determined to not release his grip on the car, so he held onto the windshield wipers. Without realizing it, they started driving down the street and accelerating, causing Zacharias to panic and fear for his life.

A video capturing the event has also become widely popular, displaying Zacharias gripping onto the vehicle's hood.

When my dog pulled on the leash, I thought he just wanted to sniff something, so I let go. But then I saw a woman holding him and walking away with him. I stood in front of the car and told them that they couldn't leave because they had my dog. They tried to drive into me, and kept driving until I fell onto their car hood. I refused to leave and insisted that they give me my dog back. Eventually, they drove off, as described by Zacharias in a TikTok video shared with NBC News.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her beloved dog was unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance before the vehicle suddenly changed direction, causing her to be thrown off and sustain minor injuries. Sadly, Onyx is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness whenever I engage in any activity, as I wish I could do them with Onyx or that he could be a part of them. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I'm not buying anything for him. It's astonishing how quickly time has passed. It feels like this situation just occurred, and yet it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

The Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in an investigation into the crime, which involves the process of examining security footage as part of their efforts.
