In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, there was an incident that took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket. During this incident, a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, who was the owner of a dog, and forcefully took

The woman carried a dog named Onyx and took it to a white car that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. Without hesitation, she leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through the bustling streets of Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted the incident to CBS News, stating that he was determined not to release his grip on the car and held onto the windshield wipers. He found himself in a state of panic as the car accelerated and they continued driving down the street.

The incident was captured on video and has since become widely shared, showing Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted her experience to NBC News through a TikTok video where she explained that when her dog pulled the leash, she assumed he just wanted to go smell something, so she let go. However, when she looked up, she saw a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to prevent the woman from leaving with her dog, Zacharias stood in front of the car and firmly stated that she couldn't leave because her dog was with her. Instead of stopping, the individuals in the car drove into her, causing her to fall onto the hood. Despite this, Zacharias remained determined and declared that she wouldn't leave until her dog was returned to her. The individuals in the car then proceeded to drive away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute dog was unsuccessful. He managed to hold on for a short distance, but when the car suddenly changed direction, he was thrown off and ended up with minor injuries like cuts and bruises. Sadly, Onyx, the dog, is still nowhere to be found.

"No matter what I'm doing, I feel upset that I can't do it with Onyx or that he's not experiencing it. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I think about how I'm not buying anything for him. The time has passed so rapidly, it feels like this just occurred. However, it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

CBS has reported that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the crime, which involves the examination of security footage as part of their
