Woman’s Daring Act to Save Beloved Dog from Thief Goes Viral

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was the owner of a dog, and forcibly took the pet from her.

The woman picked up Onyx, the dog, and took him to a white car that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping after taking Onyx. She bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted his experience, stating that he was determined not to release his grip on the windshield wipers. As they continued driving down the street and accelerating, he became overwhelmed with fear for his life.

There is also a widely circulated video capturing the incident, which depicts Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News in a TikTok video, explaining that when he tugged on the leash, she assumed he just wanted to go investigate something, so she released her grip. However, to her surprise, she saw a woman grabbing hold of him and walking away. Determined not to let her dog be taken, Zacharias positioned herself in front of the car and firmly stated that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. The individuals in the car, instead of stopping, drove towards her, eventually causing her to fall onto the hood of their vehicle. Undeterred, she remained on the hood and reiterated that she wouldn't leave until they returned her dog. Despite her efforts, they still drove away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her cute dog was unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance until the car suddenly changed direction and caused her to fall off, resulting in some minor injuries. As of now, Onyx is still lost and hasn't been found.

"I feel a sense of sadness and regret whenever I engage in any activity because I realize that Onyx is not here to experience it with me. Even something as simple as grocery shopping, where I realize I'm not buying anything for him, reminds me of the passing time. It feels like this situation just occurred, but it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

CBS reports that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in an investigation of the crime, which involves the examination of security footage.
