  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, a disturbing incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket. A woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was the owner of a dog, and abruptly seized the pet from her.

The woman held Onyx, a dog, and brought him over to a white car that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted how he firmly refused to release his grip on the car's windshield wipers, determined to maintain control. However, much to his surprise, the car continued down the street, accelerating rapidly. In that moment, Zacharias experienced intense fear for his safety. He shared this harrowing incident with CBS News.

A video capturing the incident has become widely popular, depicting Zacharias clinging onto the car's hood.

In recounting the incident in a TikTok video, Zacharias shared that when her dog pulled on the leash, she initially thought he wanted to go sniff something, so she let go. However, she then noticed a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. Determined to retrieve her dog, Zacharias positioned herself in front of their car and insisted that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. Despite her protest, they proceeded to drive towards her, eventually causing her to fall onto the hood of their car. Even after falling, Zacharias was resolute in her determination to retrieve her dog, refusing to leave until they returned him. The video captures the moment she clung onto the car as they attempted to drive away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute dog was unsuccessful. He managed to hold on for a short distance, but then the car abruptly changed direction, causing him to fall off. As a result, he suffered only minor injuries such as cuts and bruises. However, his dog Onyx is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness regardless of what I am doing because I wish I could be doing it with Onyx or that he could be a part of it. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I'm not buying anything for him. It's surprising how fast time has passed, it feels like this just happened. Yet, it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

As per CBS, the crime is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, who are actively looking into the matter and examining security footage.
