  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a brave woman went to extreme lengths to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, there was an incident outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, who was walking her dog, and suddenly took the pet away from her.

The woman carried the dog, who goes by the name of Onyx, to a white vehicle that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced down a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted his experience, stating that he was determined to not release his grip on the car. He held onto the windshield wipers as the vehicle accelerated and they traveled down the street. He expressed his sudden fear for his life during this intense situation when speaking to CBS News.

There is a viral video that has been circulating, capturing the incident where Zacharias is seen clinging onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when her dog pulled the leash, she assumed he just wanted to sniff something, so she let go. To her surprise, she saw a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. Determined to retrieve her pet, Zacharias positioned herself in front of the car and insisted that they could not leave as they had her dog. Instead of stopping, the individuals in the car proceeded to drive towards her, eventually causing her to fall onto the hood of their vehicle. Despite this, she remained steadfast and declared that she would not leave until they returned her dog. Undeterred, the individuals continued driving away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute little dog was unsuccessful. He managed to hold on for a short distance before the car suddenly changed direction and caused him to be thrown off, resulting in only minor injuries like cuts and bruises. Sadly, Onyx, the dog, is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness when I realize that I am not able to share my experiences with Onyx or that he is not able to be a part of them. For example, while I am grocery shopping, I am reminded that I am not purchasing anything for him. It feels like time has passed by so quickly, as if this situation just occurred. However, it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

The crime is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, who are actively looking into the matter and reviewing security footage.
