Woman’s Heroic Effort to Rescue Stolen Dog Goes Viral

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her adored French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and forcefully took away her pet.

The woman picked up the dog, whose name was Onyx, and brought it to a white car driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. Without hesitation, she leaped onto the front of the vehicle and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted the incident to CBS News, explaining that he was determined to not release his grip on the windshield wipers of the car. He found himself in a situation where the car was speeding down the street, causing him to feel extremely fearful for his life.

There is a viral video circulating that captures the incident, displaying Zacharias clinging onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when her dog pulled on the leash, she initially assumed he wanted to go smell something, so she let go. However, she then noticed a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them, Zacharias positioned herself in front of their car and firmly informed them that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. Despite her efforts, the individuals in the car continued to drive towards her, eventually causing her to fall onto the hood of their vehicle. Even after falling, Zacharias remained determined and insisted that she wouldn't leave until they returned her dog. Nevertheless, the individuals in the car persisted and drove away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her cute puppy did not succeed. She managed to hold on for a short distance before the car abruptly changed direction, causing her to fall off and sustain minor injuries such as cuts and bruises. Sadly, Onyx is still not found.

"I feel a sense of sadness no matter what I'm doing because I wish I could be doing it with Onyx or that he could be experiencing it too. For example, while grocery shopping, I think about not buying anything for him, and it's surprising how quickly time has passed. It feels like this situation just occurred, but it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

CBS reports that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the crime, which involves reviewing security footage as part of their efforts.
