Woman’s Heroic Effort to Save Beloved Dog from Thief Goes Viral

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her adored French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside of a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was walking her dog, and suddenly took the pet away.

The woman transported the dog, known as Onyx, to a white vehicle which was being operated by another individual.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leapt onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted that he had a determined mindset and refused to release his grip on the car despite the alarming situation. He held onto the windshield wipers tightly as the car accelerated and they traveled down the street. In that moment, he felt an overwhelming sense of fear and concern for his safety. This account was shared by Zacharias during an interview with CBS News.

A video capturing the event has also become extremely popular online, displaying Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted her experience to NBC News in a TikTok video, explaining that when her dog pulled the leash, she assumed he wanted to sniff something, so she let go. However, she was surprised to see a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop the woman from leaving, Zacharias positioned herself in front of the car and firmly stated that the woman couldn't go because she had her dog. Despite her efforts, the car proceeded to drive towards her, eventually causing her to fall onto the hood. Even in this situation, Zacharias remained determined and insisted that she wouldn't leave until her dog was returned to her. Eventually, the car drove away with her dog still inside.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute dog was unsuccessful. He managed to hold on for a short distance before the car suddenly veered, causing him to fall off and sustain minor injuries. Unfortunately, Onyx, the dog, is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness whenever I engage in any activity because I am reminded that Onyx is not with me or experiencing it. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I am not buying anything for him. It's surprising how quickly time has passed, as it feels like this situation just occurred, and yet it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

The Los Angeles Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the crime, which involves their active review of security footage, as reported by CBS.
