6 Memorable Last Performances: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + Others
George Jones was aware that his last performance was approaching. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was unaware, adding an eerie touch to the song he selected to close the night.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a false story emerged claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in exiting the stage gracefully. However, this story was proven to be untrue as Keith was not present at Haggard's final performance, nor was the individual who spread the misinformation.
In fact, the actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith helped Haggard finish. He only heard about it afterwards.

Taste of Country found a review of what could be Haggard's last concert and found a touching moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from his final concert shared in the video above (and in pictures below).
The video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell, all adding to the emotional tone of the collection.
We really enjoy the Singletary performance. If you've heard Johnny Paycheck's "Old Violin," you'll recognize the inspiration behind it. If you haven't, make sure to watch and listen.
