6 Chilling Final Concerts: The Bittersweet Farewells of Country Music Legends

6 Haunting Last Performances: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + Others

George Jones was aware that his last concert was approaching, while Daryle Singletary was not. However, this lack of awareness made the song he selected to close the night even more eerie.

When Merle Haggard passed away, there was a popular story circulating that Toby Keith had assisted him in exiting the stage gracefully. However, this story turned out to be false. Toby Keith was not present at Haggard's last performance, and the person who spread this misinformation was also not in attendance.

In reality, actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the event where Keith helped Haggard finish. He only found out about it afterwards.

Taste of Country found a review of what may have been Haggard's last concert, uncovering a touching moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from his final concert, which are shared in the video above and in pictures below.

The last time John Denver performed, Johnny Cash's final song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell performance are all featured in this emotional video.

The Singletary performance is the one we like the most. If you know Johnny Paycheck's "Old Violin," you'll recognize where he took inspiration from. If you're unfamiliar with the song, continue watching to experience it for yourself.
