6 Haunting Last Performances: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + More
George Jones was aware that his last show was approaching. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was unaware, which added an eerie quality to the song he decided to close the night with.
Following Merle Haggard's death, a story circulated about Toby Keith assisting him in exiting the stage gracefully. However, this story turned out to be false as Keith was not present at Haggard's last performance, and the person who spread the misinformation was also not in attendance.
In reality, the actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the event where Keith helped Haggard finish. He only heard about it afterwards.

Taste of Country found a review of Merle Haggard's last concert, where they uncovered a poignant moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This touching moment is one of six memories from Haggard's final concert, which can be seen in the video above and in the pictures below.
The video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell, adding a bittersweet touch to the collection.
We really enjoy the Singletary performance. If you know the song "Old Violin" by Johnny Paycheck, you'll recognize the emotional impact Singletary brings to the stage. If you're not familiar with the song, make sure to watch the performance to see for yourself.
