Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a heartwarming tale circulated claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in gracefully bowing out of his career. However, this account turned out to be false. Contrary to popular belief, Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and neither was the individual who had deceived us into believing otherwise.
In reality, actor W. Earl Brown did not attend the show where Keith genuinely assisted Haggard in finishing. He only learned about it through hearsay.

Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert and uncovered a touching moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of the six memories from the final concert, which can be seen in the video above (and in the pictures below).
Included in this poignant video are the last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.
