Chilling Final Concerts: The Haunting Performances of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and More

  • by

There have been six haunting final concerts that have left a lasting impact on music fans. Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary are among the artists who gave unforgettable performances before their passing. Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a compelling narrative regarding Toby Keith's supposed assistance in ensuring Haggard's departure from the stage with his dignity preserved. However, this account turned out to be false. Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert and uncovered a poignant moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from the final concert that are shared in the video above (and in pictures below).

This video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell, creating a bittersweet experience.

We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you have heard Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you can guess where he left it. But if you haven't, make sure to continue watching.
